Biography:
Ernesto came to the Disabilities Network of New York City from another nonprofit organization called the Self-Advocacy Association of New York State, Inc. where he was in their AmeriCorps program from October, 2004 through September, 2006. He started his internship at the Disabilities Network in May, 2007 through the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
At the Self-Advocacy Association, he was a public presenter giving presentations to community groups, schools, nonprofit organizations like Job Path, AHRC, etc. about disability awareness. He has talked to some kids about how life with a disability affects them. He also did some marketing over the phone, sent out faxes to their upstate office and attended statewide and regional conferences.
At the Disabilities Network of New York City, he does some office work and assists with fundraising and processing donations. He is a native New Yorker and bilingual English/Spanish speaker who wants to advocate for people with disabilities and he likes to participate in advocacy work at the Disabilities Network of New York City.
